Endless opportunities for learning!

Our PrairieWood students are constantly encountering opportunities for learning. These opportunities occur daily in the kitchen, completing chores, out in the community,  in a work setting. the list could go on and on.  Not only do we train and learn how to tackle these situations in the moment, but we also try to provide opportunities for problem solving, so that they may one day be able to solved these problems, and learn from these opportunities independently.

Our feature blogger this week is Chelsey.  Here is what she has to say about her week at PrairieWood.

"This week at PrairieWood I learned to find loose hangers on the racks at work.  I enjoyed doing the next dollar activity in morning group.  I was challenged by opening the shirts and taking them out of the boxes.  At PrairieWood I would like to learn more about the security tags on the shirts.  At work I am also working on how to put away jeans on the top."

Have a great weekend and enjoy all this sloppy snow and rain!

Stovetop cooking...

PrairieWood students spent the week practicing their stove top cooking skills by making French toast.  They are pretty good at preparing this delicious breakfast treat!  Maybe they could make it at home this weekend...

Our feature blogger this week is Ahsia.  Here is what she has to say about her week at PrairieWood.

"This week at PrairieWood I learned how to make a vegetable in the microwave for lunch.  I enjoyed making french toast.  I was challenged by staying on my feet while getting out of the van.  At PrairieWood I would like to learn more about making different breakfast foods.  I think I am pretty good at vacuuming at the center."

Enjoy this beautiful sunshine and spring like weather this weekend!

We love our routine!

We have quite the routine at the Transition Center...certain things get done on certain days and our students love knowing what to expect!  We don't break routine too often, but sometimes are forced to, thanks to things we cannot control...that's life!  This week we were able to stick to our routine for the most part and we have a group of happy students because of it!  Our feature blogger this week is Brandon.  Here is what Brandon has to say about his week at PrairieWood...

"This week at PrairieWood I learned about the City bus.  I enjoyed washing dishes with my friend Kaitlyn.  I was challenged by shredding paper and changing the bag.  At PrairieWood I would like to learn more about sorting and counting money.  I really enjoyed dancing at Super Skate last week."

Have a great weekend!

"Super" Week!

Each week we read and complete activities from the current events publication News2You.  It is a favorite, and everyone looks forward to the new topic each week.  This week, News2You focused on the upcoming Super Bowl and we all found the information very interesting!  Our feature blogger this week is Cassie.  Here is what she had to say about her week at PrairieWood.
" This week at PrairieWood I learned about the Super Bowl in my News2You.  I enjoyed working at Pet's Playhouse.  I was challenged by bending my knees when doing dog and cat food bags at work.  I am bummed that "Sparky" is going to be sold on Friday."

Please enjoy the video of everyone enjoying the music at Super Skate today!
Have a "Super" weekend!!!
